Award winning Ghanaian actress, Yvonne Nelson has taken a swipe at the John Mahama-led administration over the current power crisis, describing government’s explanations as “lies”.
The actress is presently leading a campaign on Twitter with the trending hashtag #DumsorMustStop.
The hashtag has received a lot of support from Ghanaians on Twitter with celebrities like Sarkodie joining in.

According to her, students “writing exams can’t learn because of dumsor. Businesses are closing down, companies are laying off workers. We can’t function as a nation, we need electricity to function.”

Government promised the delivery of two power barges to help ease the power challenges. The two barges are expected to supply the country with 450MW of power.
The first emergency power barge from Turkey was expected to be delivered by first the quarter of 2015.
This deadline by government has however been missed after Karpowership Company limited, manufacturers of the power barge disclosed it will start power production in September.
Speaking on the BBC World Service Radio, Yvonne Nelson said: “The government actually promised they were sending power barges to help the situation. They told us it was coming last month [April] and today is 1st May. So it it pretty much full of lies. They keep telling us lies and we are not seeing any results.”
“They are just telling lies and taking Ghanaians for granted,” she added.
