The Managing Director of the Bulk Oil Storage & Transportation Co. Ltd. (BOST), Kwame Awuah-Darko has disclosed that the company’s staff who was dismissed has been re-instated.
Mr Albert Mantey, the chairman of the Professional and Managerial Staff Union (PMSU) of BOST was dismissed after speaking to the media [Citi Fm] on the company’s ongoing restructuring exercise and staffing policy without permission from the Managing Director.
[contextly_sidebar id=”8ze9CEmOSMUGMLEDc8Lhe5gaZRZxtGNo”]His dismissal letter, which was signed by the MD, explained that Mr. Mantey’s media interview had tarnished the image and reputation of BOST, which is in breach of the company’s Clause 9.1.2 of the Conditions of Service hence the decision.
The move has received some industry condemnation, while a labour analyst Kofi Davor described the move as “wrong.”
But addressing the press in Accra on Thursday, the MD of BOST, Kwame Awuah-Darko said they received a letter from the Trades Union Congress (TUC) to have Mr Mantey reinstated.
He noted that the said letter from the TUC did not in any way influence their decision to reinstate Mr Mantey.
Mr Awuah-Darko further said Mr Mantey has subsequently apologized for his conduct.

I didn’t release secret tape
In another development, Mr Awuah-Darko rejected claims that he released a secret tape of the Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors (BDCs), Senyo Hosi who allegedly confessed to allegations of bribery and conniving to rob BOST.
“I did not leak the secret tape as being claimed. I swore an Oath of secrecy,” he insisted.
He also said allegations of mismanagement leveled against him are false and should be disregarded.
