Gov’t to use tech students to execute bio-septic tanks project

Government says it will employ the services of technology students of the various polytechnics to assist in the execution of the bio-septic tanks project.

The Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Mahama Ayariga explained that the move is to technically equip students for the project.

[contextly_sidebar id=”xovlc1l3w41s5KdCSfpCCwJFilWyp6h1″]Government earlier revealed its intentions of converting septic tanks in all public institutions and households nationwide into bio-septic tanks.

The move will help generate gas for domestic use and also enable government take majority of the population off the national grid.

The  initiative is also expected to help mitigate the effects of the three-year power crisis, which has intensified over the last few months.

The Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Mahama Ayariga in an interview with Citi News explained the Ministry has decided to employ the services of students to equip students to construct bio spetic tanks.

“We need to change the construction about it but then also we need to make sure that a lot of people know how to construct the Bio septic tank, and how to pipe it and how to convert it into electricity and all that and so we are embarking on a major national training programme.

“We will recruit a lot of artisans and train them but most importantly we will make sure that Polytechnic students and technical school students are  co opted during the training programme and also given the training so that they can also be part of those who are very conversant and familiar with the technology and can be deployed in their various communities.”
