The Deputy General Secretary in-charge of Operations at the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU), Morgan Ayawine has called on the government to put in place the necessary measures to bring the power crises to an end.

Speaking in an interview with Citi News in Tema, Mr Ayawine noted that many foreign owners of businesses are leaving the country because of the energy crises the country.
This he said does not auger well for the Ghanaian business community and the earlier government does something about the situation the better.
He said it is regrettable that coupled with the power crises, government has continually paid lip service to the crisis which is affecting the average Ghanaian’s day to day activities.
Mr Ayawine said the ICU believes that the combination of the incessant high fuel prices and the load-shedding exercise are key contributory factors to the sharp decline in the development and growth of the manufacturing sector.
He continued that the load-shedding exercise does not only affect the livelihood of workers but businesses too.
Mr. Ayawine said the current economic challenges has affected the collective bargaining agreement for improved conditions of service at the various workplaces.
He called on government to as a matter of urgency reduce prices of petroleum products to reduce the cost for employers buying petroleum products for their generators for production
