A staff of the Ministry of Health is currently being questioned by the Police over his involvement in a recruitment scam at the Ministry.

[contextly_sidebar id=”5nSGA9D6utmJi74PtGW0BfeCFz2RCLyF”]The suspect, Isaac Otibu, 27, is alleged to have been part of a syndicate that hacked into the Ministry’s online nursing training school admission system.

Isaac Otibu, an official at the IT Department of the Accra Regional hospital school of Anesthesia at Ridge, and his accomplices are reported to have created their own online forms and receipts in the name of the Ministry of Health and sold to applicants.

Public Relations Officer for the Ministry, Tony Goodman told to Citi News that the Ministry realized the problem about a year ago and some measures were put in place to resolve the issue.

“Auditors were sent to the various training schools and then we realized that this was what was happening, we informed the schools to look out for some of those things,” he said.

The suspect was selling the fake forms for GHC 80 and he distributed them to some outlets in Kumasi and Tema.

Goodman pointed out that the vigilance of the Ministry and the measures which were put in place led to the arrest of the suspect.

According to the Ministry of Health, the scam which was detected in most health training schools across the country has cost the Health Ministry, about GHC 3 million.
