Former first lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings has denied using Police escort while undertaking her daily activities.
A statement from the office of ex-President John Rawlings said the attention of the former first family has be drawn to reports and commentary in some circles that Mrs Rawlings “enjoys the luxury of Police outriders and regularly travels from Adjiringano to the central business district under Police escort.”
The statement categorically denied the report and clarified that “Mrs. Rawlings drives to the central business district daily without escort.”
The former first family revealed that it is rather one of their neighbours who “enjoys the luxury of Police escort to and from the Adjiringano/Trasacco area and not Mrs. Rawlings as has been erroneously portrayed.”
The use of Police escorts in Ghana is considered the sole preserve of government officials and diplomats.
Ex-President Rawlings is reported to have once lamented over the abuse of Police escorts in recent times by some officials of the National Democratic Congress.
