Members of the Polytechnic Administrators Association of Ghana are threatening to embark on strike if government does address the renewal of their conditions of service.
[contextly_sidebar id=”UU5KWF28IqfNCghVxRTfPbqGn4e9uoZE”]The members said despite their willingness to dialogue with the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission to resolve their issues, the commission has not responded to their concerns.
The president of the Association Mr Peter Yao Kosoe said since the expiration of their condition of service in 2007, their members have been working at the various polytechnics without terms of engagements.
‘’It is rather unfortunate that we have been working for the past eight years without any condition and we have made failed attempts to draw the attention of government,’’ he lamented.
He added that the association has exhausted all efforts in getting authorities respond to their situation hence the decision to embark on an industrial action.
“We administrators at the various campuses have been very calm; per our training we always want to negotiate. Our members over here are no longer going to take that; that is the more reason why we asking the government to do everything possible within the next few months to call the new executives for a negotiation of their condition f service.”
Their concerns were expressed at their 5th National Delegates Conference underway on Ho Polytechnic campus in Ho.
This year’s conference is dubbed ‘’improving the conditions of service of the polytechnic administrator for increase productivity.’’
The Deputy Volta Regional Minister Mr. Francis Ganyaglo underscored the important roles polytechnic Administrators play in the promotion of polytechnic education in the country.
He said although relevant working tools and conditions are prerequisites in enhancing the capacity of the Administrators, dialogues and negotiations must be seen as the expedient conduit for the demand of those conditions.
