The 2012 Vodafone Icons winner, Wiyaala, has taken her music career to a different level as she took away the most anticipated female award; “Female Vocalist of the Year”, at this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards held at the Accra International Conference Center.

Wiyaala is a known brand in Ghana’s music industry after she won that enviable music reality show; Vodafone Icons three years ago.

Wiyaala has remarkable additions to her catalogue of awards including: sweeping two desirable awards – ‘Most Promising Artiste in Africa’ and ‘Revelation of the African Continent’ at the maiden edition of the ‘All Africa Music Awards’ (AFRIMA) held in Lagos earlier this year.

Since winning the Vodafone Icons reality show in 2012, the young songstress from the Upper East Region has captured a series of awards and citations including, Face of Pepsi Ghana, Converse All Stars Brand Ambassador for Ghana, the Youth Achievers Award of the Upper West, Female Personality of the Year at the Sissala Prestige Awards and Music Ambassador for the Upper West region.

Commenting, Agnes Emefa Essah, Marketing Director at Vodafone Ghana, said:

“We are very excited to know that Wiyaala is progressing steadily in her music career. For us at Vodafone, we are proud to be a critical part of the realization of dreams for many musicians across the country. It is what we want to be recognized for in the industry”.

Excited at winning her newest award, Wiyaala said: “It is certainly a great delight to win the Female Vocalist of the Year award. I thank Vodafone Ghana for contributing significantly to the progress of my career through Vodafone Icons; it gave me the exposure that won me this prestigious award”.
