Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Bawku Central, Adamu Dramani Sakande has exclusively told Citi News, he will launch a comeback to reclaim the Bawku Central seat from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

[contextly_sidebar id=”juyStVmvj6UVS59854jH8vdZW2pZikOC”]“I can confirm, here and now that I am going to be a candidate for the next election; that is the primaries,” he declared.

The seat is currently being occupied by the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Mahama Ayariga.

Adamu Sakande’s position as MP was short lived after he was jailed two years for false declaration of office, perjury and deceiving a public officer.

He was later granted a Presidential pardon due to ill health.

He told Citi News, he has fully recovered and is ready to work hard to win the seat back for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

An optimistic Adamu Sakande served notice that with the overwhelming support he has received so far, he will surely win the party’s primaries and the 2016 Parliamentary elections as well.

“I go into competitions to win and hopefully, I am going to win. The support has been very overwhelming,” he said.

According to him, despite being an ex-convict, he qualifies to contest the elections “and I am going to contest and hopefully win back the seat and let it be where it belongs which is the NPP.”

Sakande revealed that the individuals who engineered his incarceration “have all come to ask me to forgive them because they didn’t know and I have forgiven them,” adding that, “politicians can be that nasty and I still insist that I did nothing wrong.”

He nonetheless hinted that at the opportune time, he will “start naming names. We are going to go through vetting and everybody is going to come clean and everything is going to be okay.”

The NPP will elect its Parliamentary candidates who will represent them in the 2016 general elections on May 24, 2015.
