5 arrested over East Legon robbery

Five   suspected   armed  robbers  have  been  arrested  by  the  Accra Police Command  for  allegedly  robbing  some   residents in East  Legon.

They  are  also  alleged   to  have   robbed  some  students  at  the  Islamic  University  College.

[contextly_sidebar id=”lNFOm7IOgsZct6XCIHVhnOBCXVO2KYQe”]Narrating the incident at a press conference, the Deputy Commander of the Accra Regional Police Command, ACP Timiothy Bonga said “on the 15th of April, 2015 at about 11.45 pm, the five armed with cutlasses and a gun stormed a cafe at East Legon and held their victims hostage.”

He said the “armed robbers pushed the cafe operator to the ground, and stabbed his left shoulder, making him bleed profusely.”

According to him, “the robbers succeeded in robbing them of 6 mobile phones, 4 laptops and cash of about GHC1,200.”

ACP revealed that the robbers fled from the scene and “also attacked and robbed some students of the Islamic University of their monies and phones.”

“A steel bender at Ajirigano, near the Islamic University spotted one of the suspects where he raised an alarm, leading to his arrest.”

ACP  Bonga  said  the  suspects  have  been  identified  by  the  victims and would soon face prosecution.

No recruitment 

Meanwhile the Police Adminstration has said there is no recruitment exercise going on in the Service at the moment.

Ghanaians have therefore been advised to take note of the and report any “unscrupulous persons who might attempt to entice them into any recruitment fraud to the nearest Police Station or the CID Headquarters for the necessary action.
