Theodosia Salome Okoh, the woman who designed the Ghana flag has died at age 92, reports say.
Madam Okoh is also the first female chairman of the Ghana Hockey Association; and the Accra hockey pitch is named after her.
The top hierarchy of the Ghana Hockey Association confirmed her death to Citi News.
She is survived by three children.
In 2013 the Mayor of Accra, Alfred Okoh Vanderpuije received massive public criticism when he tried to change the name of the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Pitch to John Evans Attah Mills Hockey pitch in honour of the late President.
About Theodosia Okoh
Theodosia Salome Okoh was born on June 13, 1922.
She was born to the Very Reverend Emmanuel Victor Asihene, a former moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana and Madam Dora Asihene, both from Anum in the Eastern Region.
She is the fourth of eight children.
She started school at Ashanti Efiduasi Primary School, continued to the Basel Mission Middle, Senior and Teacher Training Schools in Agogo and then Achimota School.
