Youths in the Volta region joined their colleagues around the world to commemorate the Global Youth Service Day by organizing a cleanup exercise and donation to the Ho Municipal Hospital.
The exercise carried out in Ho the Municipality, was organized by a Ho based youth volunteering group; Viscare Foundation.
The youth on Saturday morning de-silted major drains and cleared weeds and rubbish in the regional capital.
The exercise was climaxed at the Ho Municipal Hospital were assorted drinks and toiletries were donated to children admitted in the hospital.
The Hospital Matron Mrs Beatrice Abiwu who received the items on behalf of the children thanked the group for the gesture.
The President of Viscare Foundation Mr. Frank Ahiaxornu in an interview with Citi News said the exercise was to imbibe in the youth the spirit of volunteerism.
The theme for the day was ‘’operation sweep clean.’’
Global Youth Service Day is an annual event started in 1988 designed to get children and teens out doing work to improve their communities.
