The University Students Association of Ghana (USAG) is blaming politicians for the tension on the campus of the University of Ghana.
[contextly_sidebar id=”AUzipwMOf19C24dujqYh3LaszWbWmAOa”]The association is however calling on political parties to refrain from influencing politics in the various tertiary institutions in the country.
The call follows the arrest of Stephen Forson, the software engineer whose software was used in University of Ghana’s just ended election.
He was arrested by the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) for allegedly manipulating the software used for the election to go in favour of one candidate which he has denied.
Speaking to Citi News, Coordinating Secretary for USAG, Adams Abubakar said political parties should be banned from infiltrating the ranks of student leadership.
“The University of Ghana’s election that took place was painted NDC and NPP and that is why the secretariat of USAG is saying that its very wrong for politicians to infiltrate the realms of student politics in our dear nation,” he noted adding that “it is very dangerous.”
He recounted that “during the election we had some people coming from NPP and others as NDC who are not even students and from outside.”
“They paraded themselves as those who have the election machinery to make somebody win or lose and that has increased the tension as we see it and the politicians should be blamed,” he added.
