Presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akuffo Addo has condemned the violent attacks on African migrants in South Africa’s city, Durban.

[contextly_sidebar id=”MiEV2N167Z6AYTrgANWJvp5UuDO5orEr”]“I condemn in the strongest terms these acts of persecution, which have so far, according to reports, claimed the lives of at least six people, including a 14-year old boy,” he tweeted.

While sending his condolences to the bereaved families, Nana Addo further called on “President Mahama, through Ghana’s High Commission in South Africa, to come to the aid of all Ghanaians who are in need of help,” in that country.

Reports indicate that South African nationals have in the past two weeks raided shops and homes owned by Somalis, Ethiopians, Malawians and other African immigrants.

They are are accusing the foreigners of taking their jobs and rendering them unemployed.

Nana Addo insisted that such attacks should not be condoned and called on South Africa’s President, Jacob Zumah to “do all in his power to ensure that these attacks end.”

I extend my deepest condolences to the families & loved ones of all those killed in these unacceptable attacks. #SouthAfrica #NoToXenophobia
