Don’t support any aspirant – NPP Party officers told

The leadership of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has banned party officers including National, Regional and Constituency executives as well as party Communicators from declaring support for any aspiring Parliamentary Candidates.

[contextly_sidebar id=”iXEnj92rty2FADc2F06nFjeXfy6AcMpv”]The party is also asking all aspiring Parliamentary Candidates to carry out issue based campaigns in their quest to become MPs.

The information was captured in guidelines issued for the NPP Parliamentary primaries.

Press Statement: NPP Parliamentary primaries

The New Patriotic Party wishes to inform all party executives, officers and communicators that the guidelines governing the conduct of the upcoming parliamentary primaries, are in force and must be complied with.

These include the following:
• National, Regional and constituency officers of the party should refrain from openly declaring support or campaigning for any individual aspirant.
• Similarly, all party communicators shall desist from openly campaigning or declaring support for any parliamentary aspirant through the various media outlets.
• Parliamentary hopefuls are hereby notified that they only officially become aspirants after they have been cleared by the vetting process.
• Moreover, it shall be the obligation of all Parliamentary aspirants to protect and promote the good name of the party during their campaigns.

Please be advised that the upcoming primaries are localized internal elections therefore aspirants are cautioned to refrain from the use of intemperate language and personal attacks on each other in the national media.

All aspirants, officers and communicators of the party must therefore conduct themselves above reproach and adhere to all stated rules and regulations governing the elections.

Accordingly, any conduct which has the effect of any of the above or is similar in nature to any of the above shall amount to misconduct and shall attract sanctions.
