Contractors working on the Ashiaman roads have assured President John Mahama that construction works will be completed before the stipulated date.

[contextly_sidebar id=”yJGotJrNnN9W56HwXWwJ5PUEwKblrx4Z”]The nature of the roads within the Ashiaman and Klagon area led to riots by the people living around the area.

Some youth in the area have staged about two demonstrations to draw the attention of the government to repair the roads.

The history of the road construction has it that contractors on the stretch had to be changed because the previous contractor was unduly delaying the project.

The current contractor, Kofi Job, sub-contracted the excavation works to Engineers and Planners due to the company’s experience in the sector.

The President paid a working visit to the area where the new contractors gave the assurance that they are working around the clock to ease the discomfort the residents.

A site engineer who briefed President Mahama during his tour said the Ashiaman road which is about 4.6 kilometers is about 60% complete.

He explained that his outfit us is “now laying the curbs where we will divide the road where we shall be dividing the road into a dual carriage.”

“When we get into the center of town, we shall be doing three lanes to allow left turns and then one lane will be for parking,” he further explained.

Solar powered street lights and traffic lights will be installed when the road works are done.

The site engineer added that by the end of the year, work will be complete.
