Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for the Awutu Senya West Constituency, Oppey Abbey has thrown his weight behind former member of pressure group, OccupyGhana, Nenyi George Andah who is aspiring to lead the party as an MP for that area in the 2016 elections.

“I wish to inform all my supporters, well-wishers, as well as the entirety of the NPP membership that I am throwing my full support behind Nenyi George Andah for the Awutu Senya West NPP primaries slot,” Mr Abbey stated.

According to Oppey Abbey, his decision to step down is because he is concerned about the future of the Ghana adding that “Ghanaians, including myself, have to be more concerned about the fate of our country, rather than be concerned about our individual ambitions.”

“My support for Nenyi George Andah is premised on the fact that having interacted and engaged with him and the delegates, I know he has the goodwill of the delegates and has consistently displayed the right leadership qualities needed to wrestle the seat from the NDC and improve the fortunes of our nation.”

The former MP who made the statement in a press release copied to citifmonoline.com urged the  people of Awutu Senya West constituency to “vote massively for George Andah” during the party’s parliamentary primaries slated for June 13 and furthe called on Ghanaians to ensure that “the NPP takes control of parliament again in 2017, and return the country to the path of progress and prosperity.”

George Andah who is also a former Chief Marketing Officer of MTN Ghana has expressed readiness to serve the Awutu Senya West constituency and the country.

“I am no angel but I have always been guided by certain values and principles and I believe that … my experience puts me in a good place to serve Ghana. I am with the new Ghanaian who believes that right is right and wrong is wrong irrespective political background you may have or political leader you admire,” he said.
