Government will today host a stakeholder’s summit in Accra with the aim to devise strategies to address the growing unemployment issues in the country.
[contextly_sidebar id=”KYnGXjfXF5XHlR5nSBJ0GkHKbNqEpkAV”]The summit, which is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations is expected to bring together 500 participants from both the informal and formal sectors to share knowledge and best practices in creating jobs in the country.
President Mahama is expected to open the summit this morning.
The theme for the event is: “Inclusive Growth through Creation of Productive Employment and Decent Work for All Ghanaians.
The Deputy Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Baba Jamal said the event will focus mainly on job creation saying “such issues need some thinking and discussions with all sectors of the economy.”
“We are looking at the private sector, government and even the informal sector, we are looking at all those aspects. So this summit is trying to draw all sectors together, bring experts of all our institutions, the universities, polytechnics, technical institutions, the private sector, all those institutions and the experts that we know who can give us some ideas as to how to create jobs into the future.”
The Deputy Minister further explained that “the target of the country is to achieve full employment by 2030″ adding that “and so if we want to achieve that then we have to start now. And this is the first major start towards bringing all the people together to ensure that we will be able to achieve that.”
