Black Stars defender Lee Addy say he is responding to treatment after undergoing surgery for a knee injury he sustained whilst playing for his club, Dinamo Zagreb.

The defender’s dreams of making a second successive World Cup appearance was dealt a heavy blow after damaging his left knee in the Croatian elite football division.

The former Red Star Belgrade player who was hoping to break into the Black Stars squad for the global football festival to be staged in Brazil does not look likely to make the cut for the prestigious tournament following the injury.

“I am still recovering from my injury and so far it’s going well. The doctors have been very helpful and I appreciate all efforts being made to get me back on the field of play,” Inkoom said.

“All the same I believe all Ghanaians are praying for the Black Stars as they prepare for the World Cup,” Addy added.

He continued: “I would have loved to be part of the squad but unfortunately that wouldn’t be possible but I believe the boys will make Ghana proud.”

The 23-year-old was part of the Black Stars squad that finished as quarter-finalists at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
