The leadership of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Upper East Region are planning to replicate the “Thank you Mahama” march for his efforts to improve the level of development in the region.

[contextly_sidebar id=”3fgsQZQb2xXEjUL3pko1sM48zSvyjMtG”]The march, according to them also seeks to oppose an earlier demonstration exercise by members of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the region.

The NPP embarked on the demonstration was to express their displeasure over what they described as the worsening economic conditions in the country and the current power crisis.

In An interview with Citi News’ Frederick Awuni, the Upper East Regional Chairman of the NDC, Alhaji Mumuni Bonaba stated that plans are far advance to embark on the Thank you Mahama march.

He stated that the NPP’s demonstration exercise was a waste of time.

“I didn’t see why they did that demonstration. During NPP’s time, we were facing difficulty more than this. We want to make counter demonstration; which will make them run away and go into the bush. They will be shocked.”

“We want to tell the NPP people that Upper East is a strong hold of the NDC. We want to tell them that they shouldn’t do that again. They should leave the president to do his work. Once he doesn’t do it, the people will see and vote him out and not a demonstration,” he said adding that “We want to do the demonstration to appreciate the work that the government is doing.”
