The Interior Ministry has imposed a 4pm to 6pm curfew on the  Bunkprugu Yunyoo township following last Sunday’s deadly clash that resulted in the death of two people.

The two, reportedly died from renewed chieftaincy clashes between the Jamong and the Jafog clans (both Bimobas) which lasted for several hours on Sunday April-12, 2015.

The clashes also resulted in the destruction of properties running into millions of cedis.

A press statement issued by the Minister indicated that “the Northern Regional Security Council and by Executive Instrument reviewed the curfew, hours on Bunkpurugu Township from 4:00pm to 6:00pm with immediate effect.”

Government further  urged ” Chiefs, Opinion leaders, youth and people of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them and to use non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace to the area.”

Meanwhile government has placed a ban on the use of any ammunition or offensive weapon.

The statement indicated that any person found with any arm or ammunition will be “arrested and prosecuted .”
