The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region has described the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo as the worst opposition leader the country has ever produced.

[contextly_sidebar id=”Up0BlQHrnssRBgbpxe7xr6hQ6fIhSs6u”]This was contained in a statement signed by the party’s Ashanti Regional youth organiser, Brogya Genfi in response to the Nana Addo’s recent comment on the NDC’s operation “1 million votes in Ashanti for Mahama.”

Nana Akufo-Addo who was addressing NPP faithful at the Subin in the Ashanti Region described the NDC’s vision as a “mirage” and something that “will not happen.”

Nana Addo said the leadership of the NPP has targeted nothing less than 85% of the popular vote in the Ashanti region, reassuring them that “we will get it in 2016.”

Even Kufour couldn’t get 85%

But the NDC, while assuring that their vision is still intact, argued that “even President John Agyekum Kufour (The most successful Leader of the Busia/Dankwa tradition) who is an indigene of Ashanti and as a sitting President could not get as much as 85% of valid votes cast in Ashanti Region in any election; never in his life! Talk less of Nana Akufo-Addo whose roots is from the Eastern Region and has no track record when it comes to Ashanti politics.”

“For the records, Nana Akufo-Addo remains the worst performing Opposition leader ever under the 4th Republic. His electoral record indicates a declining trend of all Presidential elections that he has taken part and 2016 will not be an exception.”

The NDC further argued that Nana Addo’s “electoral record indicates a declining trend of all Presidential elections that he has taken part and 2016 will not be an exception.”

NDC will get 1 million votes in Ashanti

According to the press statement “the NDC youth in Ashanti remains resolute to lead the battle and with the  determination of the General Party, operation 1 million votes in Ashanti in 2016  election will be a reality.”

They argued that the NDC is poised towards achieving their aim because the party” has grown from strength to strength in Ashanti Region since 1992” adding that “The era of wicked stigmatization against the NDC is over.  In fact, the average youth from Ashanti prefers and would easily join the NDC compared to NPP.”

The added that “our hard work coupled with the massive development by His Excellency President John Mahama in Ashanti, we shall get the 1 million votes or more in 2016- Insha Allah.”
