Following a cell break that happened in the Ashanti Regional town of Tepa on Tuesday, some residents have told Citi News they now live in fear.

[contextly_sidebar id=”ejCrq3u8DPyE7Oc5i7fFbXWztn2UjWk5″]According to the residents, their fear is borne out of the fact that the two criminals who escaped might stage reprisal attacks; something they fear the Police there can’t control.

For the residents the Police should be held accountable for the incident considering the circumstances.

Citi News Lauretta Timah who spoke to some of the residents said they are disappointment in the Police personnel in the area.

“According to them the Police at the station are not up to task as expected since crime is really high in the community and ask that the Police personnel who were on duty that day be questioned with the law,”

A resident indicated that “the operations of the Police here make us feel unsecured, we do not feel comfortable at all. They did not do their work well, if they did two people wouldn’t have escaped, because the escapees can come and harm us.”

Another resident urged the Police “to intensify their night patrols here. The police barrier is just here but we always see them sleeping, its not a good thing” adding that “as of now we are living in fear because the fugitives might harm us.”

Indicted officers will be punished – Ashanti Police

Meanwhile, the Ashanti Regional Police Command has indicated its resolve to unravel the circumstances that led to the escape of two criminals from the Tepa Police cells on Tuesday.

Two officers who were on duty at the time of the incident have been given 10 days to find the fugitives.
