Nigeria’s ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has said there is emerging political tension in Lagos and Ekiti, ahead of Saturday’s state governor elections.
In a statement, PDP spokesperson Olisa Metuh urged the president-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to call his party members and supporters, in Lagos and Ekiti, to order.

In an interview with Citi News the PDP spokesperson also decried the alleged death threats on non-indigenes of Lagos state by a prominent local chief if they voted for a PDP candidate in the coming gubernatorial elections.
He described the development as “unjust” and “unfair”.
“Basically focusing on the governor election, the APC decided that they will intimidate and harass, including molest members of the PDP to ensure that they win elections. What is happening in Ekti State is unjust, is unfair when majority of Ekiti people who voted overwhelmingly for a governor were guided by someone in Lagos state. It is unfair, it unjust.”
Meanwhile journalist with Nigerian based Daily Times Remi Oladoye has told Citi News that uneasy calm has returned to the two states and elections will come off as planned.
