The Office of the Vice President has denied reports that the mayhem that occured at Suhyen in the Eastern Region was as a result of the Vice President’s visit to a faction in the town.

Kwesi Amissah Arthur over the weekend joined the people in the Eastern Region to participate in the National Sanitation Day Exercise and he visited Suhyen as part of the exercise.

However hours after he departed from the town, two factions engaged in a physical battle and the feud, according to media reports was because the Vice President was in a meeting with one faction.

A press statement signed by James Agyenim-Boateng, a presidential staffer, said the publication linking the Vice President and the violence was “unfounded and without merit as K.B. Amissah Arthur did not visit or call any chief in Suhyen, when he inspected the community’s involvement in the National Sanitation Day exercise which came off in the Eastern Region last Saturday.”

About 6 people sustained varous degrees of injuries during the clashes between supporters of two rival chiefs.

The Police were said to have separated the feuding factions but failed to make any arrest.
