Akwasi Susuye, a mason, accused of threatening the life of a 28-year-old priestess during a scuffle at Akim Bieni in the Birim South District, has been remanded in police custody by the Akim Oda Magistrate’s Court.

[contextly_sidebar id=”puVeh0QRCWZFtCSAhFiIgbEJ5H0tkSkK”]The court, presided over by Mr. Albert Owusu Annor, did not take the plea of the mason. He would reappear on April 15.

Briefing the court, the prosecutor, Police Inspector Kwaku Appiah, said on March 8, at about 1830 hours when the priestess, Nana Ama Amoakoa, had performed her usual rituals in the Aprapong stream at Akim Bieni, she had her bath in that stream.

Inspector Appiah said Nana Amoakoa detected that a necklace around her neck had dropped into the stream so she organized her subjects and some youth in the town to search for it.

He said Susuye, who was returning from the farm, joined the search team without being called to do so, found the necklace, hid it and took it to his house.

But upon a tip-off later, the priestess confronted him.

The Inspector stated that Susuye then entered his room ostensibly to bring it out only to return from the room with a cutlass in his hand.

According to Inspector Appiah, the situation degenerated into a scuffle that the mason chased the priestess to her shrine, where her subjects over-powered the accused and handed him over to the Police.
