Citi News has learnt that the improved power situation during the Easter holidays was because power for industries was given to households.

Many questioned why the government will take such an unsustainable initiative rather than working to permanently solve the power crisis.

However, a source at the Volta River Authority (VRA) explained to Citi News that during the holidays, industries did not work, therefore, there is enough power available to be supplied to homes.

The source also denied that bought power from neighbouring Ivory Coast.

The source explained that Ghana has an inter-connection agreement with Ivory Coast and this agreement stipulates that if Ghana has excess power, it supplies Ivory Coast and vice versa.

Meanwhile, Ghanaians who had enjoyed considerable amount of electricity supply over the four-day Easter period on Tuesday took to social media requesting the ECG to turn off their lights since the festivities were over.
