The National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) Paul Afoko and the General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong have been dragged to court for contempt following their refusal to re-run the constituency elections in Juaben, Kumawu and Manyhia North in the Ashanti region.

The Supreme Court unanimously dismissed an application for certiorari brought by the NPP Kumawu chairman, Joseph Danso, against the settlement reached between the party and its members in the three constituencies.

Three members of the party—Kwame Owusu Ansah, Sarpong Kumankuma and Anthony Gyamfi Ameyaw are asking the high court to hold Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong in contempt over their failure to organize the elections as instructed by the court.

According to the application for contempt cited by Citi News, the applicants say the national officers of the NPP are deliberately refusing to carry-out the court’s orders even after several written reminders.
