Northern NPP receives materials for Parliamentary primary

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Northern Regional Secretariat has received materials meant for the forthcoming Parliamentary primaries.

The materials included 120 forms and brochures governing the primaries.

The NPP regional Secretary, Sule Salifu at a meeting in Tamale distributed the materials to Secretaries of the entire 31 constituencies.

He tasked party officers to desist from receiving a cash amount of GHC1, 000.00 meant for the nomination forms from the Parliamentary hopefuls.

He said payment should be done through bank draft specifically at any branch of the Ghana Commercial Bank.

Sule Salifu also reminded party officers at the various levels to be neutral before, during and after the Parliamentary primaries.

He insisted that the vetting committees should be allowed to independently examine the Parliamentary hopefuls.

He further cautioned NPP officers in the region against openly supporting any of the Parliamentary aspirants in the race.

He unequivocally said any party officers found campaigning for their preferred candidates in the Parliamentary race would be sanctioned.

He gave the assurance that disqualified Parliamentary aspirants can file appeal at various levels of the NPP structures.

The NPP regional research officer, Nana Boakye Benjamin challenged party officers to avoid acts which could lead some angry Parliamentary aspirants and their loyalists seeking legal redress.

He emphasized the need for party officers to distance themselves from the work of the vetting committee.
He especially mentioned constituency Chairmen and advised them to act with decorum during the Parliamentary race.

The NPP Tamale Central constituency Secretary, Musah Mutawakil pledged the constituency executives’ commitment to act in line with the party’s constitution..
According to him, Parliamentary aspirants who will satisfy the requirements would have a fair deal.

Musah Mutawakil implored party supporters to be mindful of their utterances during the Parliamentary primaries to cement the party’s unity in the constituency.

The NPP Walewale constituency Secretary, Simon Ali said the party’s constitution would be respected during the processes.

He anticipated a healthy contest and urged the Parliamentary hopefuls to avoid character assassination and creating division among party supporters.

Simon Ali was optimistic that the party would emerge much stronger and united ahead of the 2016 general elections.
