The Police in the Volta Region have told Citi News they have re-arrested 3 suspected criminals who escaped from a Police cell in Denu.
[contextly_sidebar id=”4c9QlB4J2EZZhPrlYua4AHs86GGel7YQ”]The Volta Regional Police Commander, DCOP Peter King Gyinae confirmed this to Citi News but failed to disclose their identities or the locations they were arrested at.
He explained that the 3 will help them to apprehend the rest of the suspected criminals.
Seven suspects on March 13, escaped from the Police cell in Denu.
They were said to have stolen two AK47 riffles belonging to the officers on duty at the station.
The Police Administration subsequently gave the two Police officers a 10-day ultimatum to find the suspected criminals or face sanctions.
Earlier, the Interior Minister, Mark Woyongo warned that any Police personnel found to have aided the suspects to escape will be severely punished.
“Let me assure you that, these things are bound to happen from time to time. It is an indication that we need to alert, vigilant, we need to caution our people to be vigilant and duty conscious. In fact, the Police High Command will investigate this, and people who are found culpable will definitely not be spared,” he said.
