Facebook now lets you subscribe to events from specific pages.

The social network is rolling out a new feature Monday that allows you to subscribe to events created by a specific business, band or other Facebook page.

Facebook pages now have an “Events subscribe” button, which is listed on a page’s events section beneath a event’s Like button, which allows you to receive notifications whenever the business or group behind the page is hosting a new event in your area.

You can keep tabs on all the events you’ve subscribed to in your events dashboard in the app and on the web. You can also unsubscribe from specific events in this menu. Previously, you had to remember to regularly check pages for upcoming events in their area or be invited through a friend.

The idea of the update is to increase visibility for events, such as concerts that you may have otherwise missed, even if you liked a page in the past. One of the criticisms of Facebook’s News Feed algorithm — particularly from those who run business or other pages — is that updates only surface in certain users’ feeds, unless they pay to promote their posts to a wider audience. So a person who has liked a band’s page, for example, could easily miss an update about an upcoming show.

The new subscribe button is rolling out on Monday and will be available in the Facebook app across all platforms and on the web.
