BlackBerry said revenues for its fourth quarter to 28 February fell to USD 660 million from 3.3 billion the year before, including negative forex effects of USD 12 million.

Hardware contributed 42 percent to revenues, services accounted for another 47 percent and software for 10 percent. Hardware revenue was recognised on 1.3 million BlackBerry smartphones.

The company sold a total of 1.6 million smartphones to end customers.

The net profit went to USD 28 million or USD 0.05 per share, from a loss the year earlier of 304 million or 0.58 per share.

The non-GAAP net profit reached USD 20 million or USD 0.04 per share.

At the end of fiscal Q4, the company had total cash, cash equivalents, short-term and long-term investments of USD 3.27 billion, up by USD 156 million from the previous quarter.

Going forward, Blackberry expects to maintain its strong cash position.

As it expands distribution capability, the company continues to target sustainable non-GAAP profitability some time in fiscal 2016.
