Police to intensify security during Easter festivities

The Ghana Police Service has assured it has put in place enough measures to ensure adequate security during the Easter festivities.

The Police say they has deployed some officers and will receive support from other security services such as the Military, Fire Service and Immigration, to maintain law and order in the country.

Speaking to Citi News, the Director of Public Affairs at the Ghana Police Service superintendent Cephas Arthur assured the general public of their safety during the period.

“We want to be visible in all places that we need to be. Especially in our communities, at market places, public gatherings, conventions,shopping malls, merry making points, etc. We want to be very visible to deter criminals from strike and so we are going to deploy extensively and then patrol all these places. “.

“We are patrolling our communities,we are patrolling our highways, and we are patrolling business districts to ensure that we give some confidence to the people who are coming to their business.

He said the Police will be patrolling communities and other areas to ensure that Ghanaians are safe and confident to go about their daily activities during the occasion

“We give assurance to merry makers, we give assurance to people who are worshipping so that they can do so freely”

Easter is an occassion that is celebrated to commerate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The date for this year’s Easter festivities takes off from April, 3th, 2015 to April, 6th, 2015.
