Fourteen suspected criminals have been arrested by the Volta Regional Police Command following a swoop conducted in the regional capital, Ho.

[contextly_sidebar id=”IqsapGWaiP8ZrFeHKrdIgQd0MG64i2v4″]The Volta Region in recent times has become a hotbed for criminal activities especially the capital, Ho.

In what could be best described as a war waged against them by the armed robbers, the residents are often subjected to brutalities and harassments even in a broad daylight.

There were litany cases where people were held at gun points and in other cases slashed with machetes during the robbery.

A recent case was a Police Officer, Constable Eric Osie who was shot at a robbery scene.

The officer has since been receiving treatment at the Volta Regional hospital.

The swoop by the Regional Police Command forms part of measures to intensify security operations in the area.

An identification parade was conducted on Wednesday where five suspects were identified by victims.

One of the suspects, 27-year-old Agbanyo Michael, alias Obina, took the lead with about six victims identifying him.

In an interview with Citi News, the Volta Regional Police Crime Officer, Chief Supt. James Kofi Abraham said further investigations would be conducted as the suspects are being arraigned for court.

“We are conducting investigations to build a strong case for prosecution of the suspects. Meanwhile the swoop would not end; we would continue to conduct more swoop until we clamp down all criminal activities.”
