[Video]:  The look of Kwame Nkrumah interchange after completion

The Kwame Nkrumah Circle Interchange is about eighty percent completed.

According to the project design, the first of the interchanges will link the Akasanoma to the Nsawam Road around the Vodafone building.

A second interchange will link the Nsawam Road to the Nkrumah Avenue around the Ghana Commercial Bank building, while the third interchange will link Ring Road Central to Ring Road West.

Other roads around the Kwame Nkrumah Circle will also see massive improvment. The roads will be given asphaltic concrete surface, with pedestrian walkways and bicycle paths.

The Kwame Nkrumah Circle is a key intersection in the major road network in Accra.

It carries about 84,000 vehicles a day and constitutes a key bottleneck in the major road network that links the suburban areas of Accra to the central business district.

The project which cost 74.88 million euro, is being jointly financed with credit from the Brazilian Government and the Ghana Government.

According to the Ghana Institute of Engineers the project when completed will also save Ghana about 25 million dollars annually.

The project, which began in 2013 is scheduled to be completed in 2015.
