WAEC Logo n (1)The West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) says it has revised some of its rules governing the conduct of the West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

Speaking to Citi News, the Public Relations Officer of WAEC, Agnes Teye Cudjoe revealed that the revision of the rules among others prohibits students from bringing their mobile phones into the examination hall.

“This year we have revised the rules for bringing mobile phones into the halls because we realized that students bring in their mobile phones into the exam hall to cheat.”

She therefore stated that candidates who bring their mobile phones into the examination hall this year will have their entire results cancelled.

Meanwhile, candidates of WASSCE have successfully completed their first practical paper, Oral English.

This year’s May/June WASSCE began on Monday with over two hundred thousand students from various senior high schools across the country.

Speaking to Citi News a student stated that “the paper was ok although we could not hear some of the words. ”

Another also said we were able to do what was expected of us based on our efforts.
