Ghana’s automobile manufacturing company, Kantanka automobile company has presented a brand new vehicle it manufactured locally to the Ghana Police Service.

The vehicle, which is expected to help the service beef up its security duties, has unique features including an inbuilt facility, which alerts bystanders anytime the vehicle is reversing.

Speaking to the media after the donation, Chief Executive Officer of the Kantanka Automobile company, Kwadwo Safo Jnr, indicated that the company has always been in support of the nations development  agenda “especially in terms of security services.”

Though he failed to disclose the actual price of the automobile, Mr Safo said they intend to donate more of such vehicles to the service adding that “this is the first of its kind.”

For his part, the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Alhassan in receiving the vehicle was grateful for the gesture and urged other companies to emulate the Kantanka Company.

“I can only say thank you to this ingenious Ghanaian company. Thank you also for choosing the Ghana Police service as the first public organization to have this vehicle for the performance of its duties.”

The IGP explained that the vehicle “has come at an opportune time” as the service continue to expand its facilities across the country.

He said they have added to the service, 28 divisional offices, 68 new district offices and 185 police stations across the country.

The IGP further assured to put the vehicle to good use saying that “I can see even without my engineers testify that this vehicle is going to stand the test of time, considering the 24 hours performance that we put our vehicles and other equipment to.”
