Third time flag bearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akuffo-Addo has refuted reports on social media that he has resigned as fort bearer of his party.

A letter circulating in the media on Tuesday reported that Nana Addo had given up on his quest to become President of Ghana.

However on his twitter handle, Nana Addo emphatically denied the claims saying “I have not resigned and any letter purporting to say that I have, is mischievous and should be disregarded.”

“Please be assured that in taking this decision I have thought deeply about the interest and welfare of the party. I am fully convinced that under the circumstances this is the best decision I could have made all things considered. It is a far better thing I do today than I have ever done for this great party and tradition,” the said fake letter read.

Nana Akufo-Addo in his rebuttal stated clearly: “I am fully committed to leading the NPP to win the 2016 general elections, and form a government that will address the needs of Ghanaians.”

He however in an interview with the BBC said “I believe I have the energy… and I also have the commitment, and those are the two things that are driving me…”
