The Western Regional Minister, Mr Paul Evans Aidoo has ordered the assemblies to prosecute residents who did not partake in the National Sanitation Day exercise in the region.

President John Mahama instituted the national event to ensure a clean society devoid of cholera and other communicable disease with support from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development.

The exercise, which is the fifth edition, has seen little participation by the people of Sekondi-Takoradi.

Mr Aidoo who expressed displeasure with the turnout, charged the various assemblies to find innovative ways to sustain the exercise.

In a related development, President John Mahama joined members of the Northern Regional Chapter of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) in a massive clean up exercise at the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) which was replicated at the Tamale Central Hospital last Saturday.

President Mahama congratulated the GJA in the region for placing premium on the 5th edition of the National Sanitation Day exercise.

He also commended the National Lottery Authority for sponsoring the GJA to organize the exercise and encouraged other corporate bodies and the businesses to follow suit.
