Ghanaian workers operating on the ENI Onshore Receiving Facility (OCTP- TEN) project at Sanzule in Ellembelle, a district in the Western region, have suspended operations over what they describe as unlawful dismissals.

Citi Business News understands the workers have embarked on a sit-down strike as a result of the development.
The Ghanaian workers, numbering about 500 say they are gradually being replaced by other nationals on the field despite having the same qualifications.

One worker, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the situation as a breach of the country’s local content laws.

They believe the move is also a violation of their three-month renewable contracts with Amaga Oilfield and Orsam.

It is unclear what has led to this development as management of ENI is yet to comment on the matter.

The OCTP fields are expected to continuously supply Ghana’s thermal power system, from 2018 to 2036.
