Government is set to construct a 1.5 km dual carriageway road from Dome roundabout to Taifa within the Greater Accra Region, at a cost of about GHc 19 million.
The work is to be undertaken by M/S Ghacos Ltd.
According to the Roads and Highways Minister, Kwesi Amoako Atta, the construction is expected to be completed in 12 months.
The Engineer for the work, is from the Department of Urban Roads, with the employer being the Ministry of Roads and Highways.
The Ministry of Roads and Highways signed a contract with the successful bidder, the contractor M/S Ghacos Ltd, for GHc 19,093,952.92.
The scope of the construction includes, 1.5km of Dual carriageway from the Dome Roundabout to Taifa, with provision for roadside drains, construction of ancillary road to improve traffic management and safety in the area, construction of 750 meters of storm drainage works to reduce the perennial flooding within the area, and construction of walkways along the road to improve pedestrian safety.
Provision has been made for street light to improve visibility at night for motorists and pedestrians.
Speaking at a sod cutting event for the rehabilitation of the Kwabenya roundabout-Taifa area roads, Kwesi Amoako Attah said the government will be under constant pressure to deliver the road.
