Grameen-Ghana has donated educational materials worth over GHc 5,000 to the Bolni D/A primary school in the Nanumba north district of the Northern Region.
Presenting the items, the head of Programmes for Grameen Ghana, Mugmin Musah, told Citi News that his organization was touched by the plight of the children in the community.
He believes the items will go along way to help the children remain in school and help to improve teaching and learning.
Bolni is one of the deprived communities in the Nanumba north lacking basic social amenities. Children in the community go to school without basic materials like exercise books, pencils and other materials that will enable them to learn.
It is in this light that Grameen Ghana presented items like school bags, sandals, exercise, pens and other materials to the school.
The assembly member for Bolni, Nimotimi Amos Tiba, thanked Grameen Ghana for the gesture, and promised that the materials will be put to good use.
Ubor Lasong Kamonaan, the community head, appealed to the Nanumba North District Assembly to provide the school with furniture.
He lamented that pupils did not have furniture to sit on.
