Total Petroleum Ghana Limited, through its Young Graduates programme, is contributing to capacity building of the Ghanaian workforce by giving new graduates the opportunity for professional and career development.

The Human Resource Manager, Mr. Bright Dokosi, explained that the Young Graduate programme is an 18-month working opportunity for recent young Ghanaian Graduates to discover the professional world, and gain on-field experience while benefiting from international exposure.

He added that, in accordance with the programme, the inductees work with Total Petroleum Ghana under a Professional Mentor for the first phase of 6 months. After satisfactory evaluation, they are sent to International Affiliates of the company for the second phase of 12 months to be professionally groomed.

The 2016 inductees of the Young Graduate programme, made up of two Ladies and two Gentlemen, were recruited with an educational background in Engineering, Administration and Economics.

Three of these inductees have recently left for Total Kenya and Total Uganda; the other’s departure to the Head Quarters in France is imminent. It is expected that during the 12 months of the second phase, they will continue to have hands-on practical field experience as they integrate with a pool of experts in the Total group.

Ms. Endesha Amanquah, one of the Young Graduates, said that she was “pleased to be part of a dynamic company and have her world opened up through this unique opportunity.”

The Human Resource Manager added that, “Total Petroleum Ghana believes in mentoring young Ghanaians and giving them equal opportunities for professional and personal development, in order for them to contribute to the economic development of Ghana.”

For Total Petroleum Ghana, a global approach of integration, diversity, exposure and professional mentoring, is important in shaping and helping the young Ghanaian Graduate find his or her career path in a more concrete and guided way.

By the end of the programme, the inductees would have acquired a good knowledge base and a strong professional experience that will allow them to be competitive in the local and global job market.

The selection process of this year’s Young Graduate Programme is in progress, and Total Petroleum Ghana will carry on this innovative programme to contribute to a sustainable workforce and economic development of Ghana, while increasing the rate of graduate employment.
