Some frustrated unemployed youth in the Northern Region, have declared their support for the opposition New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo ahead of the December 7 polls.
They are on a door-to-door campaign dubbed, “All hands on deck campaign” in some selected constituencies in the region.
A statement signed by their Acting Communications Director, Abdul-Hakeem Inusah, took a swipe at the Mahama-led administration for failing to provide them jobs.
According to him, they have regretted voting for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the 2012 polls.
Abdul-Hakeem Inusah implored the youth to join the change bandwagon by massively voting for the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and all NPP Parliamentary candidates on December 7.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
On behalf of Get All hands on Deck campaign crusade (GAHODCC) members, and the youth of Northern region, I am privileged to deliver this short press release.
Ladies and Gentlemen of the press, the incompetence of this administration to create jobs and ensure an enabling environment for the private sector is thwarting the future of we the teaming youth of this country.
It will sudden you to note that about 48% of we the n four to six years searching for jobs which has proven futile, thus that the unbearable situation has compelled many of the teaming youth to indulge in filthy ill Social vices just to make a living, with some of us still depending on our poor parents for survival after being schooled since primary.
The cancellation of the students allowances and the difficulties in accessing students loans in this administration has force students to engage in a menial jobs so that they could stay and successfully complete their courses.
The private sector which used to employ thousands of us every year has been pushed to a very tight corner and has since exited scores of workers as a results of clueless and the unfavorable policies of this “dead goat” administration.
A year ago the president vividly claimed of creating over 600,000 jobs for we the youth, which we want to state categorically clear that it was factual inaccurate and presidential error for the first gentleman of the land to make such unfounded statement.
Ladies and Gentlemen, it appears as though this current administration has no vision for we the youth of Ghana, school fees, utility bills, transportation, fertilizer, petrol and even condom has all recorded unrealistic increment without the Mahama led administration considering the inched unemployment rate and the situation of the under privilege Ghanaian.
This year election is about the future and how presidential candidates will address youth unemployment and also collaborate qualitatively with the informal sector to create lucrative jobs when given the mandate and not where a particular presidential candidate is coming from.
The daily cry of graduate Nurses and teachers is heart-breaking and alarming, Gahodccas group fears that some of our unemployed graduates may be used by desperate politicians to cause chaos in this year general elections.
What is worrying is how president Mahama whom many of us here voted in the last elections now spend huge sum of monies on giant billboards, and organizes campaign launches across the length and breadth of this country, whilst the farmers, hawkers, nurses, teachers, the unemployed, watchmen, cleaners, drivers and the trucks pushers struggle to survive and pay utility bills yet the president goes round campaigning on changing lives and transforming Ghana, which lives is he talking about when he has no vision and clear cut policy for youth unemployment, if yes he is changing lives then in his private pocket together with his appointee.
Moreover, the then New Patriotic Party (NPP) introduced scores of social intervention including the National youth employment programme which helped many of us to continue our education with some setting up their own businesses is currently at the stage of collapsing, most especially here in the region which is been coordinated by a questionable character.
Mr.Tanko Rashid computer is issuing appointment letters to his cronies and persons believe to be thugs of the ruling party, whiles applicants with better qualification are denied the opportunity.
Ladies and Gentlemen of the press as we approaches the polls, Ghana needs a visionary and incorruptible leader who will reduce taxes on the private sector and create jobs for the unemployed graduates who have become street hawkers to be able to feed themselves and feed their families. Ghana needs a leader who will think of the next generation and not the next election.
Lastly the savannah accelerated development authority established was just a political gimmick to deceive electorates in this part of the region, the authority cannot spell out it contribution to the development of the north.
It is this backdrop that we the members of Get all hands on Deck campaign crusade (GAHODCC) on behalf of the youth of Northern Region today declare our unflinching support to the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo in the upcoming polls so that the eight years of unemployment, economic hardship, friends and family style of governance, incompetence, deceit and corruption will be a thing of the past.
By so doing we are urging all youth in Ghana to rise up and push for positive change in their communities, football grounds, markets and all public places.
We are not just declaring our support to the peace loving and the most patience flag bearer of the NPP, but we have map out some electoral areas to intensify what we dub as “meet the household campaign” throughout the constituencies in the Tamale Metropolis including the Sagnarigu, Karaga, Nantong and the Mion Constituencies.
GAHODCC, as a group has been ensuring cordial relation and soften stands of aggrieved parties in this part of the region in closed door meetings for the pass years, hence we are appealing to the Electoral Commission and the Security operatives not to side with any political party in the run-up elections by exhibiting electoral discipline, fairness, transparency and justice to all the contesting parties, this we believe will ensure the collectively achievement of peace and unity during and after the General Election.
We thank you most sincerely for honoring this invitation and your continuous support and interest in the wellbeing of the North.
Signed
Abdul-Hakeem Inusah
Acting Communication Director
