President John Dramani Mahama has admonished residents at Builsa South in the Upper East to vote massively for the National Democratic Congress’ (NDCs) parliamentary candidate, Dr Clement Apaak.
He made the call at a rally in Kanjag after he inaugurated the newly constructed community day senior high school Kanjag Eblock.
President John Mahama touted his achievements and appealed to the residents to retain him as president and vote for Dr. Apaak as MP.
The reception at the campaign grounds was massive with chants of “JM mwapi, Dr. Apaak mwapi!”
President Mahama cautioned the residents against the ‘’deception’’ of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), and called on them to retain him to continue with his good works.
According to him, teacher absenteeism has drastically reduced due to vigilance and corporation between the teachers and appropriate institutions.
Government he stressed will continue to supervise properly and invest in the educational sector ”so we can reap the reward of what we are sowing, he added.
Dr. Clement Apaak on his part assured the constituents that he will not disappoint them and will account to them of his stewardship.
According to him, his decision to have the chance to represent his constituents is to serve his people, who according to him, have been neglected for too long.
He noted that the NDC cannot continue to let Builsa South wallow in abject poverty hence the party’s decision to allow him to contest and win the constituency to improve the lot of the people in the area.
He said, the lies being peddled against the president will backfire because voters are going to massively endorse President Mahama, retain him in office.
The Builsa South Constituency seat which is currently held by Hon. Alhassan Azong of the People’s National Convention (PNC), is one of the safe seats that has been held by the ruling NDC since 1992.
The seat was won by Norbert Garko Awullay of the NDC in 1992, he held onto it until Hon Abolimbisa Roger Akantagriwen of same NDC took over in 2004.
Alhassan Azong took over the seat in the 2008 and 2012 elections. But Dr. Clement Apaak, a presidential staffer has been tipped by political commentators and experts to snatch the seat from the incumbent MP.
