The Awomefia of the Anlo State, Togbe Sri III, has appealed to Ghanaians and the Electoral Commission (EC) in particular, to ensure that the 2016 election is conducted in a peaceful manner.
According to him, it is only in peace that the nation can witness sustainable development.
In an interview with Citi News after a grand durbar to mark this year’s annual Hogbotsotso festival, Togbe Sri appealed to the general public to abide the laws of the nation, to ensure that nothing untoward happens during and after this year’s election.
He pointed out that “very soon, the nation will be going for election, and what I want everybody to do is to observe the laws and regulations of this country, and to see to it that this election is conducted in a peaceful atmosphere.”
“It is only when there is peace in the country, that the country can develop. We Ghanaians are peace loving people. It is a nation with one family. We do not want this election to break the Ghanaian Society. I am also appealing to the Electoral Commission to do their very best to make sure that Ghanaians conduct this year’s election in a peaceful atmosphere”.
