Edami foundation a Non-governmental organization (NGO) working to improving quality education of children has launched a reading project in Anfoega in the North Dayi District of the Volta Region.
As part of the project, reading clubs would be established in schools and teachers would be engaged to assist facilitate the activities.
At the launch, pupils in some schools in the districts were supplied with reading books, novels, exercise books and other learning materials to develop their skills.
Speaking to citinews the founder and Director of Edami Foundation Mr Mawuli Ankude Edami Foli lamented that the reading habit among Ghanaians is fast declining hence the need to inculcate the habit in the young ones.
He said the project is a deliberate efforts to equip the pupils with reading skills, mentor them and lobby on their behalf for the needed support to be given them in their future development.
He therefore encouraged parents and other stakeholders to support the initiative.
