The campaign launch was held at RC Park, Akatsi South Constituency on 23rd October 2016. The event was attended by people from all walks of life, particularly supporters from all the 91 polling stations in the constituency. Chiefs, the clergy, leaders of the Muslim community and other dignitaries outside the constituency were in attendance. There were over 55 chiefs and queen mothers who attended the event to the admiration of the people. The welcome addres was given by Mr Sylvanus Sogbe, chairman of the campaign team of the independent parliamentary candidate. He showed appreciation of the fact that for the first time majority of the chiefs and queen mothers were present at the campaign launch of the candidate and assured them of development if the independent parliamentary candidate was elected as MP for the area during the general election this year. He also praised the people for such a massive attendance at the event and stated that the same was an indication that this year the people really want a change of leadership in the constituency. Mr Sogbe also gave a well impressive profile of the independent parliamentary candidate. He holds BA (Hons) in Geography with Political Science and a Post-First LLB from the University of Ghana, Legon and also a Barrister-at Law certificate from the Ghana School of Law. He was called to the Bar in October 2004. He was also a part-time law lecturer at the University of Professional Studies, Accra. The candidate has also just completed a Master of Laws certificate in Oil and Gas Law in the Faculty of Law, University of Ghana. He will graduate in November this year. The candidate also launched his manifesto and enumerated his programs and policies regarding roads, water, electricity, job creation, agriculture, education, health and sanitation among others. However, the campaign team of the independent parliamentary candidate mentioned a number of projects which the MP claimed to have initiated which turned out to be false. According to Mr Victor Rabi Mensah, the PRO or Spokesman of the independent parliamentary candidate, projects such as Kindergarten building at Akatsi RC School and Sremanu respectively and a Maternity block by Adinkra Foundation from Netherlands, an NGO,were said to be constructed by the MP, Hon Bernard Ahiafor but such claims were false. He also stated that a chip compound at Live that was constructed by an NGO by name Care Net whose Executive Director was one Patrick Ocansey, was also listed by the MP as his personal project though his closest challenger, Lawyer Evans Gadeto Djikunu comes from the said village. Mr Rabi Mensah mentioned as many as fifteen projects which the MP claimed he had initiated which turned out to be false. He therefore urged the people to vote the MP out of Parliament because he had taken the people for granted. He also stated that they as a group do not stand against the NDC as a party but the people who are in leadership position of the constituency who have by their incompetence or conduct let the people down. A certain man who who gave his name as Atsu said that it was surprising that the independent parliamentary candidate pulled crowds far more than the NDC’s program when the President came there on Saturday the day before the campaign was launched by the independent parliamentary candidate and expressed the fear that the NDC may lose the seat to the independent parliamentary candidate due largely to the incompetence of the current MP for the area, Hon Bernard Ahiafor
