JCI Dansoman, the maiden local organization among the six in JCI Ghana, held its annual local convention on 11th September 2016 at the St. Martins Hotel in Dansoman. The theme for the convention was ‘Creating Impact through Sustainable Projects’.

The event was marked by a series of activities such as a health talk on Diabetics and Hypertension by a member named Dr Boateng Yaw Issachar, a Medical Doctor at the Akim Oda and Sharon Community Hospitals.

A key note address was marvellously delivered by the Immediate Past President of JCI Ghana, Albert Ankrah on the theme “creating impact through sustainable projects”.  The local convention was graced by Barrister Bright Essilfie-Kumi, one of the founders of JCI Ghana and the 2007 National President of JCI Ghana.

Speaking to Citi News on the side lines of the event, Barrister Bright Essilfie-Kumi explained the reason for the existence of JCI Ghana as “trying to bring young leaders and entrepreneurs together to be able to build their capacities and groom leaders for posterity.”

“I entreat the younger generation who aspire to be entrepreneurs and leaders to join JCI because this is the only organization that will be able to network beyond this country and build your capacity in becoming a better person, as our slogan says “Be Better,” he added.

Other activities which took place were a General Assembly meeting, the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between JCI Dansoman and Français Pour Tous to teach the members French, presentation of reports by outgoing executives and election of new executives for 2017 to continue the impact.

The 2016 JCI Dansoman Local Convention was sealed with closing remarks by the chairman for the event and 2016 JCI Dansoman President, Billy Yasin, which he encouraged all young people to be agents of change in their various communities and also take advantage of the individual, business, international and community opportunities of JCI. This was climaxed with dinner coupled with networking.
