A family headed to church on Sunday morning, including two children, have been involved in a critical accident at Takoradi in the Western Region.
The children were seated in the bucket of a Mitsuibishi pick-up with others, when the accident occurred on the newly constructed Nkroful-Apollo bypass.
“The pick-up hit the taxi first, which was parked in the curve, but couldn’t stop because there was too much speed. It veered off, somersaulted and then it crashed into the store”, an eyewitness said.
Reports indicate that, the pick-up, which ran into a taxicab, somersaulted and crashed with blood spilled on the ground, as the children appeared lifeless.
Other persons on board the taxi and the Pick-Up, also sustained injuries and have been sent to the hospital.
The accident, according to sources, occurred in front of the newly built ‘Cake is Art’ shop just around the Queen of Peace school in Takoradi.
